Youth Hunting Opportunities!

pflogocolorblacksmTreasure Valley Chapter #143 has opened doors with landowners for youth hunting!  As reported by the IdahoStatesman the chapter has made arrangements for over 700 acres to be opened up for youth only hunts in south west Idaho.   Youth will be required to have passed the Idaho hunter safety education course, be between 10 and 15 years of age, and be accompanied by a non hunting adult.

Treasure Valley Chapter celebrated their 20th anniversary last October.  The chapter won the ‘Conservation group of the year’ award for 2008 from the Idaho Fish & Game.  More than $500,000 dollars has been raised and put into the ground from this chapter around the state.  Chapter members are currently working on several projects including signing some of over 400 plots of land that have been enhanced.

How can  you help?  Become involved.  Pheasants Forever is not a hunting club, we are the premier habitat organization.  100% of the money that we raise here, stays here.  Our plots are yielding birds (and other animals) and we are just starting.  Become a part of our signature project!

Our projects this year include:

  • The Winston Moore Youth Only Hunting area
  • Dedicating 1,000 acres to Youth Only Hunting
  • Signing several of over 400 parcels of land that have been improved

Our activities include:

  • Fall and Spring fun shoots
  • Banquet and/or special events
  • Trade shows

Over the past twenty years,  Pheasants Forever Idaho has provided many sustainable programs progressive to habitat throughout the state.

The chapters have planted approximately 2,200 food plots covering 10,700 acres – 710 nesting projects on a little over 68,000 acres and have planted over 802,300 trees & shrubs on over 1200 projects state wide.  In total, Pheasants Forever Idaho has planted over 4200 projects covering more than 80,000 acres with a financial cost of $2,100,000 in habitat and $15,000 towards youth education.

With the ever increasing need for habitat in a state where farming practices and the lack of water work against the habitat opportunities for upland game and all other wildlife, Pheasants Forever is in the forefront in restoring upland bird habitat in the state.

Working with local state Fish & Game agencies, farm bill programs and Federal agencies throughout the state, Pheasants Forever continues to strive to be the leading agency in progressive habitat restoration with 100% of net funds raised at local chapters remaining in their local area to do just that – put more habitat on the ground for wildlife and upland game.
